【Introduction】:University of Nairobi, located in Nairobi, is an important university in Kenya, which was formerly the University of East Africa.

It was divided into three parts in 1970, of which the Nairobi campus became the University of Nairobi then. There were 22,000 students in the university in 2002 with 17,200 of undergraduates and 4,800 postgraduates.

Its history can be traced back to 1956, when the Royal Institution of Technology was founded in April and started to enroll noteworthy graduates from middle school. On 25th June, 1961, it was rebranded as Royal College of Nairobi, the second university college of East Africa. On 20th May, 1964, it was rebranded as the University College of Nairobi and became a subsection of University of East Africa. At the same time, students preparing to go to University of London went to University of East Africa to continue their studies. In 1970, it was rebranded as University of Nairobi and became the first state-run university of Kenya.
