Imported duty-free, the many grades of gold available in Macau can be an exceptional bargain. Silver, pearls, precious and semi-precious stones are also duty-free and widely available: the selection is limited only by the amount you want to pay.

Many reputable jewellery shops can be found near major hotels, on Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro and on Avenida de Horta e Costa, as well as in star-rated hotels. It is always a good idea to shop around and compare prices before making a luxury purchase. Ask for a warranty card for jewellery and gold items . . . and be sure to keep your receipts.
