Once again swimmers are challenged with the competition and excitement of swimming throughout the heart of one of Europe's greatest cities.
Over 250 men and 100 women will swim in the historic Liffey Race. Spectators are encouraged to support the competitors from the banks of the river, with the Liffey Boardwalk providing a great viewing point
This eagerly awaited Dublin City Council sponsered event sees swimmers of all abilities and a variety of ages compete. The course begins at the Watling Street Bridge near the Guinness Brewery and finishes at Custom House Quay.
Unfortunately construction on the LUAS Bridge from Hawkins Street to Malborough Street is not completed. It is difficult to determine how much progress will be made by the summer. At this stage the Open Sea Committee are planning to use the same course that we used last year, from the Loop Line Bridge (Railway Bridge) to the East Link Bridge.
