A Night of Theatre

Soak up some culture while you are in our capital city. Dublin boasts a great selection of theatres from the grand venues to independent gems. Ireland's national theatre, the Abbey became the centre of the Irish literary renaissance when it was founded by poet W. B. Yeats in 1904, and is still a hub for new writing. A visit is a wonderful opportunity to see classic Irish plays in the theatre in which they were first conceived. For something a little bit different, stop off at the Smock Alley Theatre, a real hidden gem in the city. The Smock Alley Theatre was built in 1662 and offers a varied programme of theatre, comedy, music and dance. And if it’s a big show you are looking for head down to the ultra modern The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre located in the cosmopolitan Grand Canal. While you are in the area why not enjoy a pre show dinner in one of the many great restaurants in the Square.

Dine in Dublin

Dublin city is fast becoming widely known as a foodie paradise, with the New York Times recently publishing a top review of Dublin’s exciting new restaurant scene. For first time visitors to the city, there are a number of Irish restaurants not to be missed including the wonderful Hatch & Sons located on St. Stephens Green, this newly opened restaurant celebrates the Irish classics. In the Temple Bar area, stop off on Gallagher’s Boxty House for an authentic Irish experience and for a top table experience; Chapter One is a must. For Music Fans

Dublin is bursting with talent and music is a huge part of the city’s charm. From busking on the streets to open mic sessions in the bars, there’s a huge offering to suit all tastes. Whelan’s on Wexford Street is one of Dublin’s most popular venues for music fans with a host of local and international musicians playing weekly. If you fancy something a bit more alternative, stop off in one of Dublin’s hippest pubs, The Bernard Shaw located on the south side of the city is a buzzing creative space and offers some of the biggest and best music nights in Dublin. Closer to the city centre, just off the Ha’Penny Bridge is The Grand Social another of the city’s hotspots. This hip bar hosts many gigs, unique club nights and is also home to one of Dublin’s best beer gardens.
