A coffee shop housed in a work of Hokkaido modern architecture and located at the foot of Mt. Moiwayama
The former Oguma Residence was designed and built in 1927 by Yoshiya Tanoue, who is a leading figure in the development of modern architecture in Hokkaido. He was also apprentice to one of the three giants of modern architecture Frank Lloyd Wright. People feared that the building would be dismantled due to deterioration, but a movement was organized to save the building, and in 1998, the building was restored to its original form. Today the building houses Lloyd’s Coffee. With its aromatic coffee and unique geometric lighting fixtures, built-in benches, small windows, and window ornaments, Lloyd’s Coffee Former Oguma Residence has become a new popular Sapporo sight.
