Experience historical changes in Sapporo through the history of transportation at this museum, where you can feel like a train conductor while driving a large-scale model train.

This museum explains how Sapporo’s public transportation has changed with the city’s development over the years. It exhibits nearly 1,000 items including historical trains and buses as well as their parts, uniforms, and tickets. There are also scale models of city trains and subways, which visitors can control using actual steering wheels. The life-sized model of a subway car built using actual parts from retired subway cars also allows visitors feel as if they are conducting the subway car. The museum also exhibits photographs of Sapporo of yesteryears, such as the cityscape in the 1950s to the 1970s, when the city train ran, and photographs of “Handensha,” which no longer exist today.
