The first bread museum in Japan offers a popular buffet of over 60 types of bread.
Hokuo is a bread manufacturing company that was established in 1979 in Sapporo. It operates 13 retail stores in Sapporo and its affiliate companies have stores in the Kanto and Kansai areas. Hakuo Bread Museum is the first of its kind to open in Japan and showcases rare objects and valuable materials regarding bread and collected from all over the world. In particular, the Museum features bread-making tools from Scandinavia, where the company gets its name (“Hokuo” is Japanese for Scandinavia), models of Viking ships, and other materials related to the culture of bread. On the first floor is a bakery and on the second floor is the museum and restaurant. After learning about bread around the world, try the Scandinavian bread, which Hokuo is known for, in the restaurant.
