Located at the foot of Mount Moiwa, the Sapporo Waterworks Museum is a place to play with and learn about water.
The popular Sapporo Waterworks Museum reopened in 2007. Over 90,000 people from within and outside Hokkaido visit it annually and in May 2013, the total number of visitors reached 500,000. It features many participatory and experiential attractions, which teach visitors about the importance of environmental protection and the relationship between humans and water in a fun way. Tours of the nearby Moiwa Water Treatment Plant are also available. Large seasonal events such as the “Waterworks Festival” (around June) and “Autumn Festival” (around October), as well as water-related discussion and craft events are frequently held at the Museum.
