Learn from Japan’s only beer museum
Taste the fresh beer sent directly from the factory
At the beer hall, visitors can taste draft beer which is sent directly from the factory and Mongolian mutton barbecue, a local specialty. This hall was built as a sugar mill in 1890, then was bought by Sapporo Beer Company, the predecessor of Sapporo Breweries Ltd., in 1903. After starting operations as a malt house, the hall made its debut as “Sapporo Beer Garden” with 100 seats in 1966. In order to achieve excellence in taste, they adopted a swing-type tap which makes the froth while pouring the beer into the mug. The visitor can enjoy the “Classic”, the 500 ml beer which is poured into the mug in three seconds to preserve freshness and only served in Hokkaido, or the “Sapporo Five Star” which is only served at the Beer Garden. Beer will no doubt take on a deeper meaning after visiting the only one Beer Museum in Japan next door and learning about the history of Sapporo Beer.
