Traces of the former Soviet Union can still be found in the Jianxi industrial district of Luoyang city, although the Soviet Union style buildings have already been renovated and no longer serve their original functions. The district was constructed in the 1950s and is based on blueprints by elite architects from the former Soviet Union. Many of China's heavy machinery factories were established here.
