Fan Zhongyan was a famous reformist politician in the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). His cemetery, dating back to more than 1,000 years ago, contains many ancient stone sculptures. This hardheaded politician won not only the respect of the public but also his counterparts. Ouyang Xiu, another famous politician, wrote Fan’s epitaph, which is inscribed on many of the tombstones of his cemetery. The cemetery is surrounded by hundreds of ancient cypress trees, adding a sense of solemnness to the area.
