Lingtai Observatory was the state observatory of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It was the largest observatory at that time, covering an area of 44,000 square meters. It was built in 56 AD by Emperor Guangwu of the Eastern Han Dynasty and authorized by the imperial astronomer. It was used for over 1,900 years until the Western Jin Dynasty, when the observatory was finally destroyed during the war.
