Han Emperor Guangwu Mausoleum is a national AAA scenic spot built in 50 AD for Liu Xiu, founding emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220). The mausoleum consists of a divine path, a memorial park and a temple. It’s adjacent to Mangshan Mountain to the south and the Yellow River to the north, and is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The mausoleum features an imposing gate, a broad divine path leading up to the memorial park, towering inscribed stones and various upright stone tablets. The memorial park takes on a rectangular shape and covers an area of 66,000 square meters. The burial mound sits at the center of the park and is 17.83 meters high and 487 meters in perimeter.
The mausoleum has been seen as a miracle by visitors and holds significant value in studying the history and science of China’s emperor tombs. It was named one of the first relic units under the protection of the Henan government in 1963 and one of the relic units under State protection in June 2001 by the State Council.
