Luoyang International Peony Garden is a large garden designated for the China Luoyang Peony Cultural Festival. It boasts the biggest late-blossom peony garden in the central plains in China, a garden of excellent peonies selected from China and foreign countries, and a Chinese herbaceous peony garden.

Luoyang International Peony Garden covers a total area of more than 380 mu (25.3 hectares) with the majority of plants being excellent Luoyang peonies. Moreover, there are more than 600 kinds of national and international peonies and 300 kinds of Chinese herbaceous peonies. There are altogether 600,000 peony plants. Peonies are known as the “King of Flowers” due to their impressive colors, fragrance, magnificence and elegance. Chinese herbaceous peonies are known as the “Prime Minister of Flowers” due to their multiple bright colors and dazzling beauty. Europeans call Chinese herbaceous peonies the “Queen of Flowers.”

Luoyang International Peony Garden is famous for its selected varieties and long blossoming period. The design of the garden features grandeur and unique characteristics. Luoyang International Peony Garden consists of the following six gardens: Huaxia Garden, Wangfang Garden, Jinxiu Garden, Jiuse Garden, Shaoyao Garden, and Production & Science Garden. The whole garden has four major characteristics, notable that “the peony plants are selected, the blossoming of the peonies comes later, the peony plants are new in terms of varieties, and the peony flowers are peculiar in appearance.” Major points of interests include Famous Peony Avenue, Nine Color Peony Picture, Flower King Square, Twenty Old Peony Plants, an area with 1,000-odd peony plants with different colors, the area with cold-resistant peony plants, and the automatic shed with a shaded area of more than 5,400 square meters.

In Luoyang International Peony Garden, there are magnificent and grand Luoyang peonies, dazzlingly impressive Japanese peonies, and American and French golden yellow peonies. There are so many well-known peonies that waves of visitors come to enjoy the wonderful sights during the blossoming period. In Luoyang International Peony Garden, the blossoming of peonies occurs usually one or two weeks later than that of the same kinds in downtown Luoyang. Unique ecological conditions and magnificently colorful peonies make Luoyang International Peony Garden the most famous peony garden with late blossoming peony flowers and selected peony plants.
