The St Peter's Church is the highest church in Riga, and also a remarkable example of the 13th century gothic architecture, which is also an architectural monument of national importance.
St. Peter's Church was built in 1209 but only a few original parts — the side nave walls and several interior pillars — are left in the present building. The church has become a distinctive cultural and arts centre encompassing both old constructors' skills and a sense of art, and giving insight into the modern trends in architecture and arts and the future and prospective developments of Riga.
