Visit Finland has the goal of expanding network coverage in key target markets in 2016 and moving forward and China is one of the key markets that Visit Finland is targeting with increased marketing and sales support and resources. The target audience for Visit Finland is well-travelled and educated individuals looking for new and authentic travel experiences and China’s sophisticated travellers fit this well. Visit Finland has three growth programs to develop the Finnish tourism industry – Stopover Finland, Finnish Archipelago and Finrelax and will be actively supporting these growth programs with new resources. Overnight stays from Greater China increased to 210,500 nights in Finland in 2015, which was an increase of 40.1 percent over 2014 and increases are expected to continue in 2016 and onwards. Already in January and February 2016, Finland saw an additional 45 percent increase in overnights from Greater China over the same 2-month period in 2015.
This year’s annual Visit Finland Road Show will again include Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Chongqing. Visit Finland has a record number of suppliers participating in the road show events in 2016 and committed to better serving the China Travel industry. Visit Finland is currently developing a wechat program for Travel Trade as an additional resource to be launched later in 2016.
StopOverFinland offers Chinese Travellers an exciting stopover holiday that’s easier than ever to plan and book. Launched in April of 2016, there’s now a quicker and easier way for Chinese customers to schedule their stopovers in Finland and discover two destinations during one trip. Travellers between Europe and Asia via Finnair canStop Over in Helsinki for no additional airfare for up to 5 days. Trade Partners will be able to expand offerings to travellers to Europe by adding on additional destinations without increased costs.StopOver Finland offers a wide range of suggested activities that are easy and fun to plan whether staying for 24 hours or up to 5 days. The newly launched Stopover Finland product menu includesmore than 50 easily reachable itinerary ideas in different parts of Finland. In 2015, Visit Finland expanded its Travel Trade page website for tour operators and travel agents to include Chinese and continues to expand China focused resources for Travel Trade. The website provides tour operators with easily accessible information and tools when marketing Finland.
