Suhariyanto, who is the chairman of BPS told on Monday that the rise in Chinese tourism numbers were recorded at 194,365 was achieved following the opening of direct flights from as many as eight cities in China to Sam Ratulangi International Airport that is based in Manado in North Jakarta.
The chairman stated that the launching of direct flights has resulted in a boost of the Chinese travellers to Indonesia as compared to the same month last year.
And, the number of tourists from China visiting Indonesia had risen by 19.9%. The other tourism contributors comprise Australia (10.48%), Malaysia (9.76%) and Singapore (4.29%).
The government of Indonesia has been expecting to embrace as much as 15 million tourists in this year and out of this nearly 2.1 million tourists are likely to be sourced from China. Joko Jokowi Wiododo, the President of Indonesia has signed an agreement with Xi Jinping, the President of China with a unified aim to lure in about 10 million tourists from China within the year 2019.
