WeChat Pay operates on the basis of WeChat messenger which is popular in PRC. Users can complete payment with their smartphones. For example, application is able to generate QR codes which are used at the pay desk.

The first retail outlets have already been using WeChat Pay system from January 2018. In order to use the application you need a Chinese passport and a credit card registered in the PRC.
