Once the new service begins on March 28, ahead of the 2020 Olympic Summer Games, Hawaiian will have three daily flights on the Honolulu-Haneda route.

The new flights will depart Honolulu at 12:35 p.m. with an estimated 5:15 p.m. arrival in Tokyo the following day. The return flight departs Haneda at 8:15 p.m. and arrives in Hawaii at 8:10 a.m. the same day.

"As the leading U.S. carrier for service between Japan and Hawaii, we are pleased to offer our guests convenient and effortless travel options by adding a third daily flight between Tokyo Haneda and Hawaii," Theo Panagiotoulias, senior vice president of global sales and alliances at Hawaiian Airlines, said in a statement.

Hawaiian Airlines operates 31 weekly nonstop flights between Japan and Hawaii on the Airbus A330 and plans to expand service Nov. 26 with four weekly flights between Fukuoka and Honolulu. The airline also flies from Hawaii to both Kansai International Airport in Osaka and New Chitose Airport in Sapporo.
