On May 19, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 5 new cases of confirmed infections (1 imported case in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 4 indigenous cases in Jilin province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (2 imported cases and 1 indigenous case, all in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 3 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 328 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on May 19, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,708 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 1,662 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 46 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on May 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 82,965 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 78,244 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 87 confirmed cases (including 9 in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. So far, 740,614 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 4,893 are now under medical observation.
On May 19, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (including 1 imported case). 37 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on May 19, 368 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 26 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on May 19, 1,540 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,055 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 1,025 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 440 in Taiwan (7 had been dead and 401 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
