Dec 13: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new cases of confirmed infections (19 imported cases, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Yunnan province; 5 indigenous cases, 4 in Heilongjiang and 1 in Sichuan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 11 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 434 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Dec 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,021 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,762 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 259 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 12, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,725 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,785 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 306 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 887,031 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,006 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (including 9 imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 9 imported cases) and 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Dec 12, 195 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 181 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 12, 8,225 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 7,446 in Hong Kong (115 had died and 6,114 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 733 in Taiwan (7 had died and 601 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
