Hotel Bel-Air

The Hotel Bel-Air has a special oval swimming pool which has been in operation for over 65 years without any change. The hotel’s former magnificence still remains although it has been rebuilt in a large scale in 2011, so visitors can still have a sense of its former grandness. It used to be a horseback riding club, and the guest room close to the swimming pool is used to be stable. The pristine style adds the unique sentiments to the hotel.

Marilyn Monroe, legendary Hollywood actress, has even lived here for as long as 10 years, during that time, she has gone through two relationships with Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller. The shooting of the film Some Like It Hot was also finished here.

The appointed photographer Bert Stern of Vogue Magazine has shot a series of pictures for Monroe, which was called The Last Sitting by the later generations. It was shot about 6 months before her death. The shooting had lasted 3 days and it was right here in one of the suite of The Bel-Air Hotel. Over 2500 pictures shot then by Stern were first published until 1982, including pictures of her dislike and give-up.
