Longchaoshou (Chinese: 龙抄手) is a traditional Chengdu snack originally sold at the Yulaichang area in 1941. The name of it could be directly translated as “Dragon Chaoshou”; Chaoshou is another name of Wonton which is specifically used in Sichaun province; and, dragon in the snack’s name is not a description of it shape or some dragon-related legend, it is a homonym of character “浓 (pronunciation: nong)” in Chinese, representing a snack stall named Nongxiang Cha Yuan (Chinese: 浓香茶园) owned by the founders of Longchaoshou.Chaoshou in Sichuan are more elaborate; ingredients used in the dish are hand-picked and nicely cooked.
