Chasing a Lady

Chasing a lady is an equestrian sports activity that is very popular among the young people of Kazakhstan. It is also a way for young men and women to show their admiration for each other. It is not uncommon that some people get to know their other halves through this activity and even tie the knot in the end.

Chasing a lady often takes place on an open and flat meadow in summer and autumn, when all the herdsmen from near and far come over and have a look. The activity dates back to long ago and has developed into a popular activity not just confined to unmarried young people. However, the participants that are entwined are often similar in age, so they can totally relax and have fun.

The activity is often hosted during festival occasions, and the hospitable ladies are willing to invite tourists to experience this unique recreational activity with locals.
