As a traditional physical activity, scrambling for a sheep is a popular equestrian activity that enjoys huge popularity among Kazakhstan, Kyrghiz, Tadzhikistan and Mongol peoples.

It takes place during observation festivals as well as performances. At the beginning of the competition, the hosts put a sheep on a designated grass and announce the start of the competition.
