There are around 2,400,000 people visiting the Jozankei Onsen, one of the most popular hot spring districts in Hokkaido.
After less than an hour’s drive south from the center of the city, you can see a big attraction. The hot springs contain sodium chloride such that when you soak in it you find your body warming form the inside. There are 56 hot spring sources in the Jyozankei district, from which 8,600 liters of hot water at temperatures of 60 to 80°C will surface each minute. The history of the Jozankei Hot Springs dates back to 1866, when an ascetic monk Miizumi Jozan discovered the hot springs and opened a healing spa. Jozankei is also famous for its scenic beauty. Visitors will be treated to picturesque views during every season at Shiraito Fall, Yunotaki and the Pool of Maizuru. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the world: take a leisurely walk in nature and enjoy the hot springs.
The Kappa Liner, a shuttle bus that departs from Sapporo Station, Odori, and Susukino, offers nine daily shuttle services (reservation required).
