Macao to organize various Chinese New Year events

In order to celebrate de Lunar New Year of the Goat, IACM, in collaboration with The Cultural Bureau and Sports and Development Bureau, will organize a series of activities related to “Let’s Celebrate the Lunar New Year of The Goat”. Amongst 44 activities, they include:

- Cultural show, sports and recreation activities, exhibitions, workshops, talks and many others.

February 18th (Lunar New Year’s Eve) at 4pm – Opening Ceremony of “Let’s Celebrate Lunar New Year of The Goat” which will take place at Tap Seac Square. New Year Salutation from the 12 Chinese Zodiac Signs and The Three Stars of Happiness, Honour and Longevity as well as performance of “The Art Troupe of the Charm of Chongqing, China” are some of the elements of the program of the day. This same group will be acting in various spots in Taipa and Coloane on February 19th and 20th (1st and 2nd Day of The Lunar New Year) and it is free of charge.

February 19th (1st Day of The Lunar New Year), between 10am and 12pm – Arrival of Giant Golden Dragon, New Year Salutation from the 12 Chinese Zodiac Signs and The Three Stars of Happiness, Honour and Longevity, Dragon and Lion Dance will start at Ruins of St. Paul heading until Senado Square

March 5th (15th Day of The Lunar New Year) is the Valentine’s Day of the Chinese calendar. The light-up of lanterns will take place at Lou Lim Ieoc Garden where a variety of performances and traditional games can be watched and played.

As far as recreational activities is concerned, there will be Lion Dance exhibitions on February 21st (3rd Day of The Lunar New Year) at 11am at The Senado Square and February 22nd (4th Day of The Lunar New Year) at 4h30pm at Tap Seac Square.

Other activities include:

- Cycling Trip Macao, Stepping High Macao Tower Run, 3-A-Side Basketball Tournament (Male and Female), 5-A-Side Football Tournament and Recreation Day for Handicap
