Amsterdam plays host to a grand sporting event as Europe’s very best track and field stars come to Amsterdam’s Olympic Stadium for the European Athletics Championships from 6 to 10 July 2016.

Heated competition

Visitors to the championships can expect plenty of heated competition as 1300 athletes from 50 countries go for gold in one of the 44 disciplines. It’s the first time that the European Athletics Championships, held every two years, come to Amsterdam and the location is just historic as the occasion: the Olympic Stadium was originally built for the 1928 Summer Olympics.
