ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival 2016

Europe's biggest dance festival - ImPulsTanz - turns Vienna into a dance hotstpot from 14 July: with international highlights, innovations from the young scene and notable new productions on numerous Viennese stages.

For the opening of the ImPulsTanz Festival, Maguy Marin is sending her dance company and the captivating sounds of Techno beats to the Volkstheater, which will be the setting for great dance moments this year. Marie Chouinard's star ensemble of ten dancers presents its brand-new pieceHieronymus Bosch: The Garden of Earthly Delights. Ismael Ivo creates a passionate solo evening with the cellist Dimos Gourdaroulis. Flamenco icon Israel Galván performs, accompanied by a band. Ushio Amagatsu's world-famous group Sankai Juku spins across the floor at the Volkstheater, as do Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's Compagnie Rosas and Wim Vandekeybus' stormy troupe Ultima Vez.

Other ImPulsTanz highlights are an uninhibited excursion by Ivo Dimchev into the world of opera, magical performance art by Xavier Le Roy and a solo by Benoît Lachambre. The Austrian dance scene presents exclusively premiere performances at this year's ImPulsTanz: including Chris Haring / Liquid Loft, Florentina Holzinger and Michikazu Matsune. Jan Lauwers and the Needcompany create the festival finale with The Blind Poet.

Dance, party, celebrate

World-class dancers support beginners and professionals, children, teens and golden agers with their knowledge at 250 workshops of every dance style. And if that's not enough, there are DJ nights and concerts in the ImPulsTanz Festival Lounge in the Burgtheater foyer each evening, or parties in the casino on Schwarzenbergplatz at which to dance the night away.
