【Summit Senior Figures Interview】Hope to Make More People Know about Dakar through the Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit

Jean Baptiste Diouf, Deputy Mayor of Dakar, indicated that it was his first visit to both Chongqing and China, so it was a pleasure to attend this summit. Chongqing has made a deep impression on him especially after the night cruise on Liangjiang (Jialing River and Yangtze River). "Chongqing is a big, beautiful and clean city with high forest coverage rate and an excellent environment. What impressed me most were the numerous bridges."

Chinese people are not too familiar with Dakar, just like I don't know much about Chinese cities. Located in East Africa, Dakar is the capital of Senegal, from the map view, Dakar is the country that goes deepest into the Atlantic and is closer to North America and Latin America than other countries in Africa. Dakar is also close to Europe. We can call it a commercial city and a tourism city. I hope to strengthen the relationship with China through cooperation; this is why I'm attending the summit.

"Golden Beach is a beautiful place in Dakar. Lake Retba is a lake that seems to be red by day, while it turns back into its normal color by night. As well as the uninhabited island where is really worth visiting. There is also a famous cultural center in Dakar, which specializes in art, whoever goes there will fall in love with it. The local residents are so dynamic that they all dress in colorful clothing. There are several ways you can find information on visiting Dakar from China such as the direct flight of Air China, take the Emirates Flights to Dubai and then transfer to Dakar, or take Air France Flights to Beijing and then transfer to Paris. It's worth mentioning that the tourism consumption in Dakar is very low."

When talking about the summit, Jean Baptiste Diouf indicated that Dakar lacks an information-exchanging platform to build cooperation with China, especially regarding cooperation in the tourism sector. Joining WTCF and attending the summit could create opportunities for more cooperation. He hoped to strengthen the cooperation with China in the tourism sector through WTCF's platforms and realize the information interconnection and intercommunication between China and Senegal.
