Washington D.C., tourism board, Destination D.C. is ready to welcome those planning to attend the inauguration of the 45th president on Jan. 20, 2017, and the hospitality community is united in its preparation for the event.

Hotels, restaurants and attractions in neighborhoods across the nation's capital are creating thematic packages, menus, balls, exhibits and tours for visitors eager to participate in the 58th presidential inauguration. The District's official destination marketing organization, Destination DC is showcasing this information for visitors coming to the nation's capital, noted a release from Destination D.C.

Visitors can access a number of free resources and experts that will aid them in their planning.

At Washington.org/inauguration, attendees will find a calendar of events; suggestions for experiencing free (and almost free) presidential history; lists of award-winning restaurants and signature DC dishes.

There will also be frequent updates when additional events are announced.

The inauguration begins with a swearing in of the president at noon and is followed by a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue. After the parade, several official balls are held and throughout the city special events and unofficial balls take place.

In 2017, the city will welcome a number of new hotels and attractions, including The Pod Hotel, The Line in Adams Morgan. In October, the first phase of The Wharf will debut with a new Canopy by Hilton and Hyatt House. The Smithsonian’s Freer Gallery will also reopen in October and the Museum of the Bible will open in November.
