The second batch of park schemes for horticultural display in the Chinese Horticultural Exhibition Area of the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exposition was unveiled on Dec. 22. Eight provinces and municipalities presented their design schemes for expert review.
The Chinese Horticultural Exhibition Area will have a total of 34 sub-exhibition parks, and experts have reviewed 29 of the designs already unveiled. Construction is allowed to start next spring and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
The design from the Shanghai Exhibition Park is known as a "cloud garden" with clouds as the core concept. Visitors will be able to roam through the garden's varying elevations as if walking on clouds.
The Xinjiang Exhibition Park give its design the theme of "New Silk Road, Colorful Oasis," which displays cultural exchanges along the Silk Road, age-old horticultural plants and diversified landscapes through rich local features like Karez (an irrigation system of wells connected by underground channel used in Xinjiang) and grape gallery frames.
The Shaanxi Exhibition Park showcases the rich history of Shaanxi Province based on the Silk Road. The park will be divided into a belt and three zones, including the Silk Road Landscape Belt with various plants, the Ancient Chang'an Zone with Tang Dynasty-style buildings and the Green Silk Road showing the development of transportation since ancient times.
The Qinghai Exhibition Park embodies its unique charm through local characteristics such as the Tang-Tibet Ancient Road, the Hoh Xil, the Qinghai Lake, Tibetan antelopes, and dwellings in Qinghai.
The Zhejiang Exhibition Park, taking the Qiantang River as the central axis, creates a landscape pattern featuring mountains and rivers. The park displays the local culture through its gardens, tea houses, bamboos and streams.
The Jilin Exhibition Park is divided into two main scenic spots. With raw Songhua stones, the eastern area piles up the 16 main peaks of the Changbai Mountain and the Tianchi in miniature form; the western area features green waves and reeds.
The Guizhou Exhibition Park, inspired by dance poses of ethnic minorities in Guizhou, highlights famous attractions like the Beipanjiang Bridge and the Huangguoshu Waterfall.
The Hebei Exhibition Park embodies harmonious development of people and nature by displaying the beauty of the Saihanba Forest and the towering Taihang Mountains as well as the Xiong'an New Area. Among them, the Xiong'an New Area will show its style through the Baiyang Lake, which is dubbed the "Mirror Pool."
