Cheese

The Netherlands is rich in milk product because of its vast amounts of fertile pastures. So it is not strange that the Dutch love cheese. They like spreading cheese on the sliced sandwiches while having breakfast, eating cheese with mustard, or using cheese in fillings of croquettes and in many other ways.

The Netherlands produces various kinds of delicious cheese. The most famous kind is Gouda cheese. Gouda and many other Dutch cheeses, are classified according to its age: jong (1 month), belegen (4 months), oud (10 months), overjarig (1 year or longer). Cheese will become drier and mellower as time goes on.
