【Introduction】:The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) is the symbol of German unification
The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) is the symbol of German unification.
This gate was used to divide East and West Berlin. Since the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, it became a symbol of German unification. Other than that, the sandstone structure is the finest building among German classical architectures.
The Brandenburg gate was designed by Hans lang (c. g. Langhans), constructed from 1788 to 1791, the gate were modeled on the Athens acropolis, Greek colonnade architectural style. It has more than 6 Doric Order pillars, supporting the 5 13-meters deep channels. In 1793, the Brandenburg gate was decorated with four horse chariots molded by J.G. Schadow on the top, pointing to the east of the city center.
The Berlin city council decided that since October 2002, all cars, buses, and taxis were forbidden to pass the Brandenburg Gate.
The Pariser Platz at the front of the Brandenburg Gate is called the "living room" of Berlin; it is also one of the most beautiful squares in the capital. Built in the seventeenth century, the square became an empty place after the destruction of World War II and the establishment of the Berlin wall. Today, the square is surrounded by elegant city villas, multiple embassies, and luxurious Hotel Adlon. The surrounding buildings of the square are in accordance with the strict urban construction regulations: shape, size, and style of the new building must be consistent with the style of the Paris square.
East of the Brandenburg Gate is the most beautiful street in Berlin, the Unter den linden Avenue. Walking along the street, there are plenty of attractions for you. West side of the Brandenburg gate is "six.one seven" street, on both sides of the street is the heart of the Berlin Green Teal Kato park, right in front of monumental columns have victory. Arriving on the avenue, it is the green heart of Berlin, the Tiergarten, right ahead of the avenue is Berlin Victory Column. Around Brandenburg Gate, you can also reach to the Reichstag and Germany's national Memorial for the Murdered Jews of Europe by walk.
