The National Museum of Colombo is the oldest museum in Sri Lanka. It is in Colombo City and was founded in 1877. In 1980 the new museum was completed. The museum has a collection of precious cultural relics of different historical periods in Sri Lanka. There are various stone statues, bronze statues, precious stones, weapons as well as all kinds of weavings, metal products, and handicrafts of Kandy Dynasty, as well as the armors of the king from the last generations. Also, you can see the lion thrones which brought from Kandy and Chinese porcelain which was unearthed all over the country.
