Hollywood Sign

The world famous Hollywood Sign has a history of 90 years. It is not only a relic of the past development project but also the landmark of LA. When it comes to Los Angeles, one thing that will definitely occur to people’s minds is this landmark, with a height of 45 feet and length of 350 feet. The non-profit organization of Hollywood Sign Trust, Committed to protect the Hollywood Sign, repaired the sign to celebrate the 90th anniversary of its foundation through which it is back to its former glory.

This beloved landmark once named “The Place of Hollywood,” has even been ruined deliberately by someone. It was supposed to be sold when the surrounding plots of land were all sold out (now known as Beachwood Canyon), but it finally survived thanks to a keeper’s protection. Until 1949, this landmark has become a symbol of not only a development project but also a city. Eventually its letters began to fall off from not being maintained regularly. With the donation of some famous people of LA like Alice Cooper, Hugh Hefner, Gene Autry, Andy Williams and, Warner Bros, the landmark structure then was able to be repaired and reinforced.

Without the great feelings that many visitors and also the citizens attached to it, the Hollywood Sign would not have been able to hold on today, neither will the close enjoyment of this sign become a mysterious journey. Visitors can appreciate the landmark from different perspectives either from close range or from a far range. After being repainted in November of 2012, people can enjoy the gleaming Hollywood Sign.
