【Introduction】:The church, also known as“Kon-Katidralta’SanGwann”in Maltese, is one of the main Catholic Churches in Malta, it is also the landmark of Valletta.
The church, also known as“Kon-Katidralta’SanGwann”in Maltese, is one of the main Catholic Churches in Malta, it is also the landmark of Valletta. The Maltese knights built the church from 1573-1578. During the beginning of 19th century, it status was regarded as the same as the Medina Cathedral. From the outside, the yellow walls are not visible but it decorated with large number of ornate baroque style decoration inside including staggered carved stone. The vault and the side altars of the St. John’s life scenes, are from the Knight Prati, this church is also known as one of Europe’s most beautiful churches. There are a total of 8 small halls in the main church that worship the Patron Saints of the Knights’ eight parts. The Anglo Bavarian church preserved the holy items of the knights. The most famous works of art is Caravaggio’s 《St John beheaded》. Grand Master, Valette, and other members of knights were also buried in the church.
