St. Peter’s Cathedral is the oldest church in Zurich, before the Swiss religious reform St Peter Cathedral was the only parish church in the city, the rest were attached to the monastery. The existing architecture was built in 1706 and was the first church during the new era. Repair work began in 1970 and completed in 1975. The steeple clock is 8.7 meters in diameter, the hour hand is 3 meters long, the minute hand is 4 meters long, and it is Europe’s largest church clock.
