Sri Maha Bodhi Tree Temple

The temple was built completely for the bodhi tree, actually there were no tall buildings in it except the sacred tree, which bore the scars of 2300 years but still lush and accept the obeisance of people from far and wide. Every day a flock of devout believers waited for the temple to open until the closing time. The bodhi tree standing in today’s temple is the descendant of Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, which is the sixth generation. Buddhism has firmly rooted in the ground of Sri Lanka, just like the bodhi tree and become more and more prosperous, which survived all invasions of foreign religions but still stands today.
