Mosque of Ibn Tulun

Mosque of Ibn Tulun, the representative of the Islamic architecture at early time, is one of the most famous mosques in Egypt. It was built by Ahmed-Ibn-Tulun of the Tulunids Kingdom which conquered Egypt between 876 and 879. This ancient mosque had previously collapsed a couple of times, repaired by one of the other dynasties that succeeded to rule. The minaret at the north of the mosque is the only minaret with external spiral staircase in Egypt.
