Boston Public Library

The Boston Public Library is the largest city public library in the United States, with more than 15 million books, second only to the US Congress Library and the Harvard University Library. The current Boston Public Library building began to build in 1888 and was finished and opened to the public in 1895. As early as 1880, the Massachusetts legislature agreed to build a new building for the Boston Public Library.
