Founded in 1900, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is the oldest museum in Texas, and also the largest museum in the middle and south of the United States (west of Washington, east of Los Angeles, and south of Chicago). The museum houses two main exhibition buildings: Beck Building and Law Building (on both sides of the Main Street), an outdoor statue park (east of Montrose Street), one art school, and a library. The museum collects more than 50,000 items for exhibition. All kinds of special exhibitions and keynote speeches are often held here too.
