The Royal Castle of Laeken was once part of Austrian Empire. It was also the residence of Napoleon and William during the occupation of France and Netherlands. Since Belgium's independence in 1830, Laeken has always been a royal retreat, which still holds the original look in the time of Leopold II. Leopold II led the design and built a conservatory in 1873, which was made of metal and glass decorated with 19th century architectural styling and was used to collect different kinds of beautiful and exotic flowers.
