Shanxi Museum is a local comprehensive museum in China, located in the Confucian Temple in southeast of Taiyuan City. It was built in 1918 and open formerly in 1919. Its former name was the Educational Books Library, and then was changed to Shanxi People Educational Museum in 1933, then Shanxi Books Museum in 1949. It merged with Taiyuan Cultural Relic Museum and formally named Shanxi Museum.
Shanxi Revolution History is divided into three parts: the first and second National Revolutionary War, the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the War of Liberation. The main contents are the hundred-regiment War, the promotion of the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of the old communist revolutionist and so on.
The basic exhibitions are set in the East and West Hall of Confucian Temple and Dacheng Temple.The exhibition theme include Shanxi ancient history, modern history and revolution history Exhibition, and occupies an area of about 2,000 square meters and boasts over 100 relics. The ancient history consists of primitive society, slavery society and feudal society, showing the politic, economic and cultural development situations. The modern history mainly shows the revolutionary events when Shanxi people revolted the imperialism and feudalism, including the movements of fighting for coal, Jiaowen massacre and so on.
