The history of Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas) has been very tortuous. In 1999, Bundestag of Germany decided to build a memorial using 27.6 million euros to reflect the crimes that Germany had committed during war, which clearly shows the German deeply repent on history and its firm attitude to take responsibilities.

The monument was designed by Peter Eisenman, and was completed around 2003 to 2005, covering nineteen thousand square meters. The concept of the architect's design fundamentally broke the philosophy of a monument, it gives up all the symbols. Network pathways composed of 2711 cement stones are available for people to pass through. The cement stones are 0.95 meters long, 2.38 meters wide, but varies in height. People can access to the stones from four directions, and overlook the surrounding views. From the southeast of the monument, people can get to the underground information hall, the design of the exhibition hall is in consistent with the monument, introducing the relevant victims, Golgothas, and today's memorial site information
