Clock Tower

In 1903, to celebrate the announcement of the colonization of Seychelles (formerly hosted by Mauritius) to the British royal family, a Clock Tower modeled on that of Vauxhall Clock Tower in London was established at central downtown in Seychelles. The Clock Tower is 5 meters high, and has been a symbol of Victoria, capital of Seychelles, for over 100 years. It maintains the original shape although a variety of modern buildings are springing up around it. Originally, people expected this bell to chime but it failed to do so. Then it malfunctioned frequently, until 1999, it was replaced by modern quartz clock. The job was carried out by the original manufacturer-Gillett and Johnson Company, and the fund was raised by Seychelles people.
