Today its size is based on the renovated carried out in 1874, with obvious southern European architectural art style. The library on the second floor opened in 1929. With the Biblioteca do Convento de Mafra as its sample, the decoration and furniture display of this building have a strong classical atmosphere. Now, it is mainly used to collect foreign language books dating back to the time between the 17th century and the 1950s.
