Ice and Snow World is the annual carnival themed by ice and snow. It stays opened from Christmas to early March. During this period, you can experience various snow entertainment programs, appreciate beautiful ice sculptures, snow sculptures and snow castles, and watch charming and colorful ice lamps.

With the ticket to Ice and Snow World, you can ascend snow castles and experience the thrill of slipping along China’s longest ice slide to the bottom; you can ride a small forest train, an ice bike, a snow kart, or a snow motor; you can go skiing, go skating, play on snow slides, play in ice mazes, or climb ice rocks; you can take part in competitive sports such as CS in ice and snow, snow football and ice tug-of-war.

Moreover, you can see parades by workers dressed like cartoon figures and shows of crystal weddings between princes and princesses. If you feel tired, you can watch exacting acrobatic dances on ice, a grand actual performance called Tracks in the Snowy Forest, and wonderful dancing and singing performances by foreign actors. Each session of Ice and Snow World have different themes and refreshing performances and ice sculptures.

You can go to Ice and Snow World at 15:00 or 16:00 and stay until the evening to see beautiful ice lamps. You are advised not to come here on the Spring Festival and weekends, for it may take you several hours to line up for some programs. You had better wear warm clothes, bring a thermos cup filled with hot water, or enter a warm room to resist the cold weather.

Tips:

1. Food here is expensive, and there is KFC, UBC Coffee, and Oriental Dumpling King.

2. So-called warm rooms are heated snack bars that serve hot drink and food. According to tourists, many owners ask you to buy a hot drink which costs at least 10 yuan so that you can rest and stay warm in their bars.

3. Many buses stop running at 18:00 or 19:00, so you need to confirm the time of the last bus when setting out. You are advised not to go back too late in the evening, for it may be difficult to take a taxi.

4. Remember to put on thick gloves (for skiing), thick hats which can cover your ears, and non-slip insulated shoes.

5. Since batteries consume much power and fails easily at a lower temperatures, travelers who like taking photos must protect the camera, put it close to your body when not using it, and bring as many extra batteries as possible.

6. Since nearly all the programs require tickets, please do not discard it. Deposits are needed for skiing.

How to get here: take Bus 126 at the station of Flood Control Monument (Friendship Road); take Bus 88, 119, 125, or 126 at Road Bridge Station. It usually takes you 20 to 30 yuan to taxi from the Central Street to Ice and Snow World.

Admission: 300 yuan on weekdays, and 330 yuan for China’s national holidays (New Year, Spring Festival and Lantern Festival). Please search the official website of the scenic area for specific ticket prices for different sessions.
