The Museum is located in the leafy Cimiez quarter. This 17th-century Genoa type villa has undergone a renovation; the outside of the building is decorated with realistic 3D paintings. The museum exhibited a private collection of famous beast painting Painter Matisse. In 1917, Matisse arrived in Nice at the age of 47; he had deep love for the clear light in Nice so he decided to live here for 38 years until he passed away at the age of 85 years old in 1954. The museum has collected works during the different periods of Matisse, including 236 paintings, 218 prints as well as a full set of books which was designed by him, the famous “Nu Bleu 4” and Nature Morte aux Grenades and so on. This gallery will allow you to fully appreciate the essence of the master of painting art.

Near the Matisse Museum, beside the ruins of a small Roman Colosseum and the public bath, and also a large area of the olive garden, there are some olive trees that are over one thousand years old. The green trees are colorful in the sunlight and very beautiful.
