Sitting high on Castle Hill on the Buda side of the Danube River, Fisherman’s Bastion was built in 1905 as part of the ongoing celebrations of the thousand-year existence of the Hungarian state. In medieval times, the fish market was nearby and the bastion was built to commemorate the fishermen who protected this part of the city. It encompasses part of the original fortified castle walls and its terraces boast the best view points over the river and across to Pest. The bastion is a step away from several of Budapest’s big-hitting attractions.
Address: Szentháromságtér 5, Budapest, Hungary
Ticket: There is a fee to enter the lookout at the top level of Fishermen's Bastion, however you can enter the lower level lookout for free and the view is equally beautiful.
